Wellington Paranormal is a television series and a spin-off of the film What We Do in the Shadows. The first series ran from 11 July until 15 August 2018 on TVNZ 2, consisting of six episodes.

In June 2018 it was confirmed that the show had been renewed for a second series to air in 2019.[1] Season 2 finished filming in May 2019[2] and premiered on 16 October 2019.

The third series commenced filming on June 29th, 2020,[3] and premiered on 24 February 2021.[4]

Series 4 premiered on 16 February 2022. Filming took place during May to June 2021. A casting call for extras was posted online on 15 April 2021.[5] It has been reported that this will be the final series of the show.[6]

Synopsis[]

Sergeant Maaka and Officers Minogue and O'Leary are members of the Wellington, New Zealand, police. Their job is to investigate paranormal phenomena.

Officers Minogue and O'Leary bring in what appears to be a projectile-vomiting drunk teenager. Sergeant Maaka delves deeper and invites the officers to join his Paranormal Unit.
2 "Cop Circles" 18 July 2018
Minogue and O'Leary travel to the rural outskirts to investigate photographic evidence of a cow up a tree. Maaka suspects alien activity and sure enough, the two cops soon discover evidence.
3 "Things That Do the Bump in the Night" 25 July 2018
Minogue and O'Leary attend a noise complaint at what appears to be a 70s-themed party in Khandallah. But when they pull the plug on the record player, everyone disappears.
4 "The She Wolf of Kurimarama Street" 1 August 2018
Responding to a callout from a freaked out pizza delivery guy who was attacked by a big dog wearing jeans, Minogue and O'Leary soon discover that a werewolf is on the loose in Lower Hutt.
5 "A Normal Night" 8 August 2018
Minogue and O'Leary encounter a series of incidents including a plastic bag mistaken for a ghost, some creepy clowns, some sort of ritual sacrifice, and a theft from the hospital blood bank.
6 "Zombie Cops" 15 August 2018
Fellow officers Donovan and Laupepe become infected by a zombie. Minogue and O'Leary must catch them before they get to Courtenay Place on a Friday night and start the zombie apocalypse.

Minogue and O'Leary unwittingly free the ghost of an old fashioned cop from the 1930s. Can they stop him before he shuts every pub in Wellington for being open after 6pm closing time?
4 "Copy Cops" 6 November 2019
The discovery of a dead policeman that looks exactly like Minogue leads the cops to a creepy motel in the country full of exact copies of themselves. Although some of them aren't that exact.
5 "Haunted Nissan" 13 November 2019
Minogue and O'Leary pull over a driverless 80s boy racer car only to discover it's haunted by the original owner.
6 "Mobots" 20 November 2019
Out of date phones start forming into robots and terrorising the neighbourhood! Game of snake anyone?
7 "Christmas Special" 19 December 2019
Minogue and O'Leary go out on a busy Christmas Eve Patrol. They find the Devil at a mall, deal with an interdimensional vortex at a barbecue, and discover a violent doll rampaging through a house.

When a large, congealed blob of fat in the Wellington sewers becomes sentient, Minogue and O'Leary go underground to confront the monster.[7]

After giving a talk at a high school, Minogue and O'Leary confiscate a haunted leather jacket that makes whoever wears it cool - something neither Minogue nor O'Leary are used to.
4 "Skeleton Crew" 9 March 2022
When workmen disturb a Pakeha burial ground underneath the police station, an annoying old Caucasian ghost possesses Sarge who then menaces his own officers.
5 "Who the Hell" 16 March 2022
On a typical night patrol, Minogue and O'Leary get to the bottom of a series of mysterious curses while Officer Parker gets a new partner.
6 "Time Cop" 23 March 2022
Minogue and O'Leary go back in time to the 90s but on returning, discover they've created an apocalyptic new timeline where Sarge was never a cop.
