Vampire hunters are humans or half-vampires who actively find and kill vampires. They will often wear crucifixes for their own protection and kill vampires using wooden stakes,[1] crossbows or holy water.[2]
It has been speculated that vampire hunting skill can be a genetic trait, as Guillermo, a likely descent of Abraham Van Helsing,[3] has demonstrated natural skill at fighting off aggressive vampires.[4] This proves that vampire hunters are a different human species.
Known vampire hunters[]
- An unnamed vampire hunter who killed Petyr with sunlight, but was accidentally killed himself in the attack.[1]
- Wesley, a half-vampire member of the Vampiric Council, is described as being a "vampire killer", making him a controversial choice for a Council member.[5]
- Van Helsing, a legendary vampire hunter of which Guillermo is a descendant of.
- The Mosquito Collectors of the Tri-State Area, an amateur vampire hunting group who sought to avenge the turning of Jenna by raiding the house of the Hustle Dynasty vampires.[6]
- Guillermo de la Cruz, a descendant of Van Helsing. He previously served as Nandor's familiar and now utilizes his talents to protect the vampire household under his charge. He has killed numerous vampires, accidentally in the case of Ludwig,[5] a member of the Staten Island vampiric council, and Carol, a member of Simon the Devious's crew,[7] and Gorgo the Murderer.[8] Guillermo also intentionally killed every vampire attending the Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires, with the exception of his masters and Vladislav, who fled once he began his attack,[9] and numerous vampire assassins.[4]
- Guillermo's family (maternal), including his cousin Miguel, aunt Valeria, mother Silvia, and grandmother Maite.[10]
