Tilda is the leader of the Vampiric Council. She appears in What We Do in the Shadows (TV series).
Biography[]
After Baron Afanas was accidentally burned to death by sunlight in the Staten Island vampire residence, Laszlo, Nadja and Nandor buried him in their garden. The Vampiric Council found out about his death (it is not known how, but it may have been from his familiar) and summoned the vampires to a trial at the Temple of Blood-Devourers.
The roommates met the Vampiric Council at the temple, where the trial was led by Tilda. In accordance with vampire law, they had to have a local vampire present, which turned out in this case to be Colin. The Baron’s familiar was first to testify and claimed witness to the vampires letting Afanas eat human food and said she overhead them plotting to kill him. This caused the Council to admit that none of them ever really liked Afanas.
Guillermo was then summoned and confessed to the murder by sunlight. None of the Council believed him, thinking he was too weak to kill a vampire or simply lying to protect his master. As the Council proposed eating him, Nandor confessed to the crime. Tilda found the vampires guilty of premeditated vampicide and sentenced them to death by exposure to sunlight in a well.
The three vampires were led into the well, but as the sun emerged, they were saved by Colin holding a new umbrella over the well with Guillermo. The vampires escaped by turning into bats and hiding in a cardboard box carried by Guillermo, unknown to the Council.
Behind the Scenes[]
- Tilda was played by Tilda Swinton, who portrayed a vampire in Only Lovers Left Alive. Tilda also resembles the character Swinton played in this film.
- According to Jemaine Clement, the idea to have cameos from multiple actors who had previously played vampires came from Tilda herself. [1]
