"The Wellness Center" is the eighth episode of the third season of What We Do in the Shadows. It aired on October 14, 2021.

Synopsis[]

Nandor is persuaded to reject vampirism and pursue a healthier lifestyle.

Plot Summary[]

The Staten Island household organizes a party to celebrate Nandor's “Accession Day”, the anniversary of when he was crowned Supreme Viceroy for Al Qolnidar, but Nandor is too depressed to take part. Nadja sends him on an errand to confront Jan, a vampire who has not been paying their Vampiric Council union fees.

Nandor finds Jan at a post-chiropteran wellness center, leading an aerobics session for a very strange group of vampires who no longer have fangs. Everyone there claims that they have now become human again, and Nandor becomes intrigued. He leaves the house to join the group and relieves Guillermo of his bodyguard duties, refusing to turn him as he considers vampirism a curse.

Nandor embraces life in Jan's group, removing his fangs every day and refusing to use his powers. Guillermo grows concerned for Nandor and tracks him down via a wellness center pamphlet left behind in his room. Guillermo sneaks in, pretending to be a member, but is quickly spotted by Jan. The vampires are outraged to see Guillermo’s vampire hunting equipment and Jan summons the whole group to attack him. Guillermo grabs Nandor, fights off multiple members and drives away, trapping Nandor in the car using a silver-lined seatbelt. Guillermo tells Nandor he has been brainwashed and locks him in the basement cage to start deprogramming him.

At the wellness center, the injured group members grow angry at Jan for failing to protect them. She encourages them to walk outside into the sunlight to complete their final step towards becoming human. As they all burn to death in the sun, Jan plots her next scam.
