- For the eponymous species, see sirens.
"The Siren" is the seventh episode of the third season of What We Do in the Shadows. It aired on October 7, 2021.
Synopsis[]
Two travelers are shipwrecked, and a doll runs away from home.
Plot Summary[]
Laszlo and Colin Robinson steal a party boat in order to sail to Plum Island, a place which, according to the library books, may unveil more information about energy vampires. As they sail out to sea, they hear a beautiful female voice singing in the distance. Laszlo correctly assumes the song is coming from a siren, and decides to pursue it despite the possible danger.
The two vampires crash into a tiny island and find the siren, Sheila, in the form of a bird-woman hybrid. Seeing all the surrounding human skeletons, Laszlo tries to fly away but is lured back by her song. The two vampires are enchanted into staying trapped in her nest, but Laszlo eventually gains the strength to fly away again.
Meanwhile, Nadja and Nandor agree to run the Vampiric Council on alternate days, but Nadja continues to spend so much time arguing with him that her ghost begins to feel ignored. Deciding that she no longer fits in with the rest of the Council, she runs away with no-one noticing. When Nadja finally realises she has gone, she becomes distraught and knows she has run away to cause drama. Nandor and Guillermo follow Nadja to a toy store, where the ghost hides on the shelf and attacks Nandor. She then leaves the doll to possess a mannequin and runs away from the store, demanding to be left alone. The ghost then enters an angel statue, still refusing to comply, and possesses a giant inflatable rat to run away.
As Nandor and Nadja chase after her, Laszlo arrives and asks Guillermo to help him. Guillermo takes him to a Best Buy store to buy noise-cancelling headphones, but Laszlo gets distracted by the amount of other music technology available and wastes time buying more things. Laszlo finally remembers his mission and leaves Guillermo. Colin begins to fall for Sheila, and when Laszlo arrives, Colin insists that his love for her is real and that he wants to stay. Laszlo puts the headphones on himself and Colin and takes him away, leaving Sheila to prey on the camera crewmembers stuck on the island.
Nandor and Nadja chase the ghost into an alleyway and Nandor punctures the rat host. As she slowly deflates, she begs Nadja to let her go, but Nadja admits her new job has made her extremely busy and apologises for ignoring her. The ghost returns to the doll and Nadja flies away with her.
Back at the home, Nadja and the ghost reflect on what they have learned. Laszlo apologises to Colin, who concludes that he probably was just enchanted and not really in love.
