"The Curse" is the fourth episode of the second season of What We Do in the Shadows. It aired on April 29, 2020.

Synopsis[]

While the vampires fear they've been electronically cursed, Guillermo tries to thwart a deadly threat to his masters.[1]

Plot Summary[]

Nandor decides to check his emails for the first time in over 10 years. Guillermo sets up a laptop for him and leaves for his second meeting of the Mosquito Collectors of the Tri-State Area in order to infiltrate the group. Nandor finds an old chain email saying that he has been cursed by “Bloody Mary” and that he must pass on the email to ten more people in order to lift the curse. Panicking, he calls over Laszlo and Nadja, who read the email and believe that the curse has spread to them.

At the meeting, the members discuss the house which Shanice believes to be one of the last known locations of Jenna and leave in a van rented by Derek’s mother to slay the residents inside. Believing the house to be his residence, Guillermo calls home in a hushed voice warning them that they will be killed. The vampires assume Guillermo’s voice is that of Bloody Mary and become even more worried.

The club arrive at the house, which turns out to be a completely different home, much to Guillermo’s relief. The group sneak in, split up and discover multiple sleeping residents, who suddenly awaken and reveal themselves to be vampires. Guillermo fights them off, killing several of them, and rescues Shanice, Claude and Tonya, but is unable to save Derek, who is taken by the vampires. The group drive away in the van in a state of shock.

Meanwhile, Nandor, Nadja and Laszlo work frantically to try and find ten email addresses. They eventually receive enough with the help of Colin Robinson, who bores them deeply in the process. They send the email to the ten addresses and hear a knock at the door, terrifying them. Realising that it is only Guillermo, the vampires embrace each other as they celebrate the ‘curse’ being lifted.

As morning approaches, Nandor blames Guillermo for his ordeal as he supplied the laptop, but asks him to stay by his coffin for a while in case anyone tries to kill him.
