What We Do in the Shadows Wiki

Raymond St John is a party host who died and became a ghost in 1977. He appears in Wellington Paranormal.

Biography[]

During the 1970s, Raymond St John held legendary house parties at 23 Tukariri Street that sometimes lasted for several days. In 1977, one party had several horrifying events which led to the deaths of multiple guests, including two people being electrocuted in a spa pool when a lamp fell in, two others drowning from an exploding waterbed, a man getting tangled up in a crochet blanket and another man dying after falling in a cheese fondue. Raymond was also killed, it is not known how.

For over forty years after the event, noise complaints about parties were made by the neighbours. One night, officers O’Leary and Minogue were sent to investigate a 70's themed party, all the party guests there ignored them and disappeared when the music was cut off, leading the Wellington Police Paranormal Unit to realise everyone there was a ghost.

The officers returned to the empty house the next night with a medium, Chloe Patterson. Several disturbing encounters with ghosts happened, including Chloe being dragged into the hot tub room, which became a normal bathroom when Minogue went after her.

The officers, assisted by Sergeant Maaka, were able to revert the bathroom back to the hot tub room and found Chloe enjoying the spa with Rochelle and Peter, the ghosts of the couple who were electrocuted. Raymond suddenly possessed Chloe, taunting the officers and demanding that the party continue. He floated off and led them back into the living room, where the party started again. The police stopped the music and informed the partygoers that they are all dead, which they didn’t believe until O’Leary shone a torch through them. The guests admitted that they were no longer having a good time and agreed to leave the party for the afterlife. Raymond was arrested for multiple accounts of holding people against their will and for forty years of noise complaints, but when the officers weren’t looking, he phased out of the police car to freedom.
