"Nouveau Théâtre des Vampires" (originally titled "Théâtre des Vampires") is the tenth and final episode of the second season of What We Do in the Shadows. It aired on June 10, 2020.

Synopsis[]

The vampires try to survive without Guillermo while they prepare to attend the most exclusive event on the vampiric social calendar.[1]

Plot Summary[]

Guillermo suddenly disappears from the house, leaving only a note saying “sorry”. The vampires struggle to cope without him; the house becomes littered with corpses and the roommates run out of clean clothes with no-one to take them to the dry cleaner's. The vampires attempt to call Guillermo, but cannot locate him as they don’t even know his surname. Their dismay quickly turns to joy as they receive an invitation to Théâtre des Vampires, an exclusive theatre performance which only the most elite vampires are invited to.

Meanwhile, Guillermo has moved back to the home of his mother, Silvia, in the Bronx. He reveals that he left because his possible vampire hunter heritage was distracting him from his familiar duties. Silvia complains that her fridge has broken; Guillermo offers to bring her the mini-fridge he gained from Topher.

Guillermo sneaks back to the vampire residence, finding only Doll Nadja, who tells him about the theatre. Guillermo looks at the invite and sees a hidden logo for the Vampiric Council. Guillermo arms himself and heads to the theatre.

Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo and Colin Robinson are given central seats, while Guillermo sneaks into the theatre through the rooftop and hides above the stage. The masked presenter of the show reveals himself to be Vladislav and the roommates are tied to their chairs with silver rope. The actors re-enact the murders of Baron Afanas, Ludwig, the numerous Council assassins and the Hustle Dynasty at the supposed hands of the four vampires. Vladislav announces that their heads are to be cut off with a swinging blade onstage.

The roommates are bound to the stage chairs. Nandor exclaims that Guillermo killed all the vampires, and that Nandor killed and dismembered him when he found out. The actors and audience refuse to believe this as the roommates cannot recall what Guillermo’s surname is. When the actors perform a sketch where a child playing a familiar resembling Guillermo tries and fails to kill a vampire, Guillermo swings onto the stage. He kills the entire cast and audience apart from Vladislav, who turns into a bat and escapes, and the child actor. The vampire roommates watch the massacre, and when it ends, Guillermo angrily tells them his full name: Guillermo de la Cruz.
