Officer Laupepe is a member of the Wellington Police Force. She appears in Wellington Paranormal.

Biography[]

As part of the Wellington Police Force, Laupepe was the partner of Officer Mason Donovan. The two were good at their jobs and would constantly annoy officers Minogue and O’Leary with their smugness, dancing and referring to the two as “Kylie” and “Dannii”.[1]

Laupepe was first mentioned during a police briefing in which she and Donovan stopped two armed robbers at a BP service station.[2] She was mentioned again when she and twelve other members of the police force were congratulated for helping a baby in distress on the harbour, even though the baby turned out to be a towel.[3]

Donovan and Laupepe were later thanked again by Sergeant Maaka for responding to reports of gunfire, which turned out to be some kids throwing marbles at a shih tzu. In the same week, they arrested a suspicious businessman who was spray painting “HELP ME, TURNING INTO A ZOMB” in huge letters on a wall. Maaka correctly suspected the businessman was a zombie and invited the rest of the Paranormal Unit to observe the officers interview him in the interrogation room. When the unit wasn’t looking, the zombie attacked Donovan and was pulled off by Laupepe.

Later that day, Donovan became sick in the police car and passed out. When Laupepe tried to revive him, he suddenly awoke as a zombie and attacked her, infecting her with the virus. On the hunt for brains, they attacked a boy racer while giving him a breathalyser test, who escaped in his car. The two zombies then radioed O’Leary and Minogue, saying they wanted to eat their brains. When the Paranormal Unit finally realised the two were not joking, they went to find them.

Donovan and Laupepe went to a drive-through requesting brains and bit the arm of the woman serving them. They then headed into Courtenay Place, full people due to it being a Friday night. The Paranormal Unit set up a plan involving Constable Parker being used as bait for the zombies. O’Leary and Minogue lured the zombie cops to Parker, who pretended to assault Maaka in plain clothes. The zombies attacked Maaka instead and he tried to lead them into the police car, only to accidentally get locked in with them. O’Leary used the radio to control the zombies and they immediately left the car, leaving Maaka unharmed. Realising the zombies obey radio commands, the four cops made the two zombies dance and take selfies with them until they were arrested and taken back to the station.

Still able to follow basic commands, Donovan and Laupepe were given desk jobs to remain in service to Wellington Police.[1]

In an alternate 2022 caused by a 9-year-old Maaka losing interest in becoming a policeman, Laupepe is still alive along with Donovan although they have been dealing with a zombie apocalypse for about 2 and a half years.

O'Leary and Minogue, unaware of changes to the timeline, arrive at the station briefing room to find them there and wonder if a cure for zombieism has been found already. To the pair's annoyance, Laupepe and Donovan are still as irritating as their pre-zombified counterparts. During the briefing, the police officer sitting next to Donovan began turning into a zombie, forcing Laupepe to assist Donovan in restraining him then put him in a cell with the others. Later outside, Laupepe and Donovan assist Sergeant Parker in getting zombies off of him, although upon hearing he was scratched the two quickly scampered off.[4]
