Anton Anderson[1] is the leader of a werewolf pack in Te Aro. He appears in What We Do in the Shadows, Wellington Paranormal and is set to appear in We're Wolves.[2]
Biography[]
Anton’s role in the pack is to help prevent the other werewolves from transforming prematurely and ensuring they do not harm others when they inevitably transform. He does so by preventing the werewolves from becoming angry through discouraging swearing and practicing breathing exercises, among other methods.
The documentary crew first encountered Anton’s pack when they passed the vampire flatmates and their human friend Stu. Deacon deliberately began to agitate them and Anton had to calm the pack down and prevent them from transforming, which some of them almost did. Anton eventually helped solve the conflict in a civil manner and they left the vampires.
A few weeks later, as the pack raced to chain themselves to trees before the full moon emerged, the vampire flatmates, who were leaving the Unholy Masquerade ball, began to pester them again. In the distraction, the pack failed to chain themselves and transformed under the full moon. They attacked the group and documentary crew, leaving one member seriously injured or killed. Stu was disembowelled by the pack. Police officers O'Leary and Minogue assumed his injuries were caused by a dog and an ambulance was called. However as Stu was being carried in, he sprang back to life and fled the scene. He blacked out and woke up to see the pack in human form and mostly naked, with Anton offering him new clothes. Stu, now a werewolf, was accepted into the pack.
Shortly afterwards, Nick discovered Stu and brought him back to the flat, causing the vampires to befriend Anton and the pack.[3]
O'Leary and Minogue encountered Anton again, now working as a park ranger in the Remutaka Range, when they investigated the disappearance of a local YouTuber with footage showing him being dragged off by a large hairy monster. Anton was cagey about the disappearance, and refused to help them during the night of a full moon. Officer Minogue remembered seeing a documentary in which he saw Anton transform into a werewolf, suspecting that he could be the perpetrator, although in the end it turned out to be a maero.[4]
