The 1985 Nissan 300ZX - Z31 was a car that was initially owned by, and then haunted by, Shane Thompson. It appears in Wellington Paranormal.

History[]

In 1989, the car was owned by a young man named Shane Thompson, who seemed to love it more than his own girlfriend, Sharon Horn. It got to the point where they would only get intimate when inside the car, leading Sharon to kick him out of her house. Upset, Shane drove the Nissan off a bay and into the ocean, killing himself and writing off the car.

In 2019, the Nissan was renovated, repainted from black to green and sold to a man named Trent Corby, who initially didn’t realise that Shane was haunting the car. While Trent was working on the horn, he heard a creepy tune (identified by Officer Minogue to be Are You Old Enough by Dragon), a “mournful moaning” and Shane’s voice telling him to get out of the car. Trent left, and the car mysteriously drove away, leading the Paranormal Unit to investigate.

At some point, a small 10-year old boy somehow got inside the car and Shane continued to cause it to drive erratically, gaining the attention of Minogue and O’Leary. They stopped the car and found the boy inside, who denied driving. O’Leary took the boy to the station and Minogue drove the car back to Trent. In the police car, the boy claimed he also heard Shane’s voice. Meanwhile, Minogue lost control of the Nissan as it sped to 60 kmph and Shane told him to get out. He managed to get it towed back to Trent’s house.

At the station, the Unit identified the car’s history and what happened to it. Meanwhile, Shane drove the Nissan away again. Suspecting the car may be trying to return to Shane’s last known place of residence, O’Leary and Minogue headed there and found Sharon. As she was telling them about Shane, the Nissan appeared outside. The three got in and saw Shane’s ghost in the rear-view mirror. Sharon explained to him that he had been dead for thirty years, which Shane had not realised.

The officers left the car so Sharon and Shane could be alone together, but when Sharon insisted she could not commit to a relationship with a dead man, Shane suddenly drove the Nissan away with her trapped inside. The officers chased after it until it was blocked by a van and attempted to free Sharon from the car, only to get locked in with her as it headed to the bank it previously drove off from. Shane finally stopped just short of the bank when Sharon said she would think of him as “a wanker” if he killed her.

The officers left the car while Sharon got intimate with Shane’s ghost. She got out of the Nissan and commented that she “just sent Shane to Heaven”. She and the Paranormal Unit watched as Shane drove a ghost version of the car into the afterlife. It is not known what happened to the Nissan afterwards.[1]
